Job summary

DRCHC in Louisiana is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by processing prescriptions, maintaining patient profiles, managing inventories, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state/federal guidelines.

You will rotate between DRCHC sites (Bossier and Shreveport), assist with insurance claims and billing, and provide guidance to patients and clinic staff under pharmacist supervision. Prior retail pharmacy or community health center experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Must possess Louisiana Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
• Must possess general knowledge of computer programs.
• Must have at least one (1) year experience of retail pharmacy or community health center experience.
• Experience with electronic health records preferred, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.
• Must demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills.
• Must be flexible to work at any pharmacy sites as needed. Currently 2 locations (Bossier and Shreveport)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to the pharmacist by performing pharmacy-related duties in accordance with applicable laws.
• Receive and process prescription requests from patients and/or clinic staff.
• File prescriptions that have been filled, and assist patients by answering simple questions or locating OTC items.
• Refer patients to the Pharmacist for medication information.
• Create, update and maintain patient profiles, as well as pharmacy inventories and controlled substances information.
• Manage insurance claims, process billing, and troubleshoot coverage issues with healthcare providers.
• Monitor stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and track expiration dates to prevent waste.
• Operate pharmacy software and maintain a clean workspace.
• Answer phones and greet customers.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, infection-control protocols, and state/federal legal guidelines.
• Ensure medications are properly stored.
• Rotate to other DRCHC sites as needed (Bossier and Shreveport).
