Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists with preparation and distribution of medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. You will support daily procurement, inventory control, and documentation for controlled substances in a busy pharmacy.

Required education includes a High School Diploma or GED and state registration; certification must be obtained within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work with multiple departments and matrix structures.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of healthcare data entry and cashiering processes.
• Willing to obtain and maintain pharmacy certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen phone calls and route using proper etiquette.
• Documentation for removal, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable.
• Ensure storage areas comply with policies and perform admission histories.
• Participate in training pharmacy technicians as applicable.
• Support vaccination efforts under supervision if qualified.
