Responsibilities

• Filling: Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices.
• Filling: Assist in preparation of oral and injectable medications (including intravenous admixtures and TPN) for the correct patient at the proper time.
• Use proper technique in preparation of medications.
• Work in Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs (chemo) using aseptic technique.
• Participation in distribution of medication including cassettes, emergency carts and delivery of controlled substances per policy and state/federal requirements.
• Retrieve discontinued medications and return or credit to appropriate area.
• Develop and maintain positive service relationships during medication distribution process.
• Assist in procurement, accountability, storage, preparation and distribution of investigational and study drugs.
• Provide and receive information to hospital personnel, patients, and visitors; refer drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.
• Ensure medications in all areas are stored safely and securely per regulations; comply with HIPAA, OSHA, FWA and CMS; maintain a clean, organized work environment.
