Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution. You will perform pharmaceutical calculations, compound non-sterile dosage forms, and manage inventory using systems and dispensing cabinets in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities include preparing doses for dispensing, maintaining stock, and communicating with nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • PHARMTECH registration in the state of employment.
  • National PTCB certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Alerts pharmacy leadership of immediate problems requiring corrective action.
  • Fills unit dose cart, floor stock, medication orders; delivers to patient care areas.
  • Prepares I.V. admixtures using sterile technique.
  • Prepares prescriptions for pharmacist review and dispensing.
  • Checks stock for outdates, overstock, and proper storage monthly.
  • Screens inquiries and directs to appropriate pharmacist for timely communication.

Job description

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Certified Pharmacy Tech, you will assist the Pharmacist in all operations related to medication preparation and distribution, where extreme accuracy and meticulous attention to detail are paramount. Every day, you will accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations, compound non-sterile dosage forms, and effectively utilize inventory management systems and automated dispensing cabinets. Operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and often high-stress environment with constant interruptions, you will leverage your high-level security clearance to access all medication storage areas, procedural areas, and surgical suites. You must strictly abide by all state and federal regulations, including stringent record-keeping and infection prevention standards, while consistently prioritizing work to respond to acute critical patient needs alongside scheduled duties. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and a strong willingness to work as a cohesive member of a team. Your ability to accurately prepare medications, manage inventory, navigate a highly regulated environment, and maintain composure under pressure will be crucial in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring patient safety.

  • Alerts pharmacy director, coordinator, clinical coordinator, or pharmacist of immediate problems requiring corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner fills unit dose cart, floor stock, medication orders, and delivers to patient care areas to ensure availability of ordered drugs and supplies.
  • Accurately prepares I.V. admixtures, using sterile technique.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner, prepares prescriptions for pharmacist review and dispensing.
  • Checks floor stock and/or pharmacy stock for outdates, overstock, and proper storage on a monthly basis to ensure the use of high quality medications.
  • Screens nursing and physician inquiries and phone calls by directing to appropriate pharmacist to ensure accurate and timely communication.
Job Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacy Tech in the state in which the employee works, PHARMTECH:CO
  • National PTCB within 6 months of hire
