Job summary

ChorusRx is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists and care teams in delivering high-quality medication management in a centralized telephonic care center located in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compassionate communication, and efficient operations to ensure patient-centered services. You will process medication requests, coordinate with the ChorusRx network, assist with refills and authorizations, and maintain complete documentation in EHR systems.

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential through PTCB required.
  • Active New Jersey state registration/licensure for a pharmacy technician.
  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience in retail, mail order, long-term care, or managed care.
  • Experience in a call center environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process medication requests from providers via fax and electronic systems.
  • Coordinate delivery through central ChorusRx pharmacy or community network based on location and formulary.
  • Communicate with ChorusRx to confirm medication availability and delivery logistics.
  • Coordinate refills and prior authorizations under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate patient profiles, medication lists, and prescriber information.
  • Respond to inbound calls from patients, providers, nurses, caregivers, and partner pharmacies.
  • Triage clinical questions to pharmacists and resolve non-clinical inquiries efficiently.
  • Document communications in the EHR/pharmacy management systems.
  • Maintain service level standards for call response times and follow-up.
  • Perform medication reconciliations and send complete profiles for pharmacist review.
  • Adhere to federal/state regulations, HIPAA, and CMS requirements.

Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ (Hybrid)

Status: Full-time

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists and care teams in delivering high-quality medication management services to participants, caregivers and their providers and through a centralized telephonic care center. This position combines technical accuracy, compassionate communication, and operational efficiency to ensure timely, compliant, and patient-centered pharmacy services. The technician plays a critical role in assuring client satisfaction by facilitating medication requests, coordinating with prescribers and caregivers, and maintaining accurate documentation across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Coordination & Processing

  • Receive, process, and enter medication requests from providers via fax and electronic systems.
  • Coordinate medication delivery through the appropriate channel — either the ChorusRx central pharmacy or assigning to a pharmacist for fulfillment through an approved community pharmacy network — based on patient location, formulary, and service agreements.
  • Ensure clear communication with ChorusRx central pharmacy to confirm medication availability, turnaround time, and delivery logistics.
  • Coordinate refills and prior authorizations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient profiles, medication lists, and prescriber information.

Care Center & Communication Support

  • Respond to inbound calls and messages from patients, providers, nurses, caregivers, and partner pharmacies regarding order status, medication delivery, or clarification requests.
  • Triage clinical questions to pharmacists while resolving non-clinical inquiries efficiently and professionally.
  • Document all communications and transactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and/or pharmacy management system.
  • Maintain service level standards for call response times, documentation, and follow-up.

Clinical & Operational Support

  • Perform comprehensive and accurate medication reconciliations to send complete medication profiles for pharmacist review using clinical software tools.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure medications align with patients’ goals of care and program requirements.
  • Utilize care center software and pharmacy technology platforms for workflow management and data integrity.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Adhere to all federal and state pharmacy regulations, HIPAA privacy rules, and CMS program requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to medication accuracy, turnaround time, and communication quality.

Qualifications:

Education & Licensure:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential through PTCB required
  • Active and unrestricted New Jersey state pharmacy technician registration/licensure.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience in retail, mail order, long-term care, or managed care pharmacy.
  • Experience in call center environment strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the medication reconciliation process and experience completing medication reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with EHRs, telephony, and pharmacy management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and task prioritization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills—empathetic and professional.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-volume, technology-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of medication names, uses, and common formulary drugs.
  • Commitment to compassionate care and respect for patients and families.
  • Thrives in a collaborative group environment and actively contributes to shared goals.
  • Builds positive working relationships and supports a culture of teamwork, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Passion for patient care and safety.
  • Basic user skills in Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Centralized care center setting.
  • Rotating shifts with potential for rotating on-call shifts as needed.
  • Frequent phone and computer use, with integration of pharmacy software and automation systems.
