Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Technician under the supervision of a Staff Pharmacist. The role covers processing physician orders, patient-facing duties, and collaboration with nursing to ensure timely medication delivery.

An intern license may allow additional duties under the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. Candidates must have GA pharmacy registration, a high school diploma, and a commitment to regulatory guidelines and USP standards.

Qualifications

• Requires Georgia Board of Pharmacy registration and ability to obtain certification within specified timelines.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• First attempt at certification should be completed within 6 months of hire; certification must be obtained by the 3rd attempt or at 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Robot software to evaluate medication processing.
• Print manual pick lists with each batch of medications processed through the Robot.
• Stock robot with medications and supplies to maintain efficient workflow.
• Package medications for automated dispensing machines and label according to guidelines.
• Maintain/Monitor PacMed production during batch and ensure timely delivery to patients.
• Perform quality assurance to ensure medications are prepared, packaged, and stored per policy and USP 797.
• Communicate with pharmacy leadership and nursing to ensure medication reaches the patient on time.
• Handle controlled substances following policy and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with troubleshooting automated dispensing cabinets and coordinate with vendors as needed.
• Train staff and provide feedback to supervisors on performance.
