Job summary

Willoughby Hills Family Health Center, part of Cleveland Clinic, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support outpatient pharmacy operations. The team processes 360–400 prescriptions daily and rotates responsibilities weekly to meet department needs.

The caregiver collaborates with pharmacists and technicians to ensure accurate and timely prescription processing in an ambulatory setting. A sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
• Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
• Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
• Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
• Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
• Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.

As a Pharmacy Technician, a caregiver in this role will support outpatient pharmacy operations at Willoughby Hills Family Health Center, where the team processes approximately 360 to 400 prescriptions daily, with volume varying by day. Caregivers are cross‑trained across all work areas and rotate responsibilities weekly to support department needs. Responsibilities include typing prescriptions, filling prescriptions and providing coverage in other work areas as needed. The caregiver will collaborate with pharmacists and fellow technicians to maintain efficient workflows and help ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

A caregiver in this position will work two ten hour shifts Monday and Tuesday during pharmacy hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the option to pick up additional shifts if available.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
• Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
• Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
• Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Six months of hospital experience
• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Physical Requirements

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $21.50

Maximum hourly: $31.00

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
