Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Ambulatory department at the Willoughby Hills Family Health Center. This part-time position supports outpatient pharmacy operations and collaborates with pharmacists and technicians to ensure accurate dispensing and efficient workflows.

You will work two ten-hour shifts (Monday and Tuesday) with potential for additional shifts. A $1,250 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPhT certification through PTCB or NHA.
• Active OBOP registration as Certified/Registered/Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Must upgrade to CPhT within 6 months.
• Hospital experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide distributive pharmacy services and support for the pharmacist in ambulatory/outpatient setting.
• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
• Maintain outpatient pharmacy inventory.
• Assist with extemporaneous and bulk compounding of prescriptions and OTC items.
• Operate the point-of-sale cash register system and handle transactions.
• Monitor reorder points and restock prescription/non-prescription areas.

Serving the needs of the surrounding communities, Willoughby Hills Family Health Center offers patients a wide variety of pediatric, family medicine, radiology and cardiology services. As a Pharmacy Technician, a caregiver in this role will support outpatient pharmacy operations at Willoughby Hills Family Health Center, where the team processes approximately 360 to 400 prescriptions daily, with volume varying by day. Caregivers are cross-trained across all work areas and rotate responsibilities weekly to support department needs. Responsibilities include typing prescriptions, filling prescriptions and providing coverage in other work areas as needed. The caregiver will collaborate with pharmacists and fellow technicians to maintain efficient workflows and help ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

A caregiver in this position will work two ten hour shifts Monday and Tuesday during pharmacy hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the option to pick up additional shifts if available.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
• Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
• Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
• Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
• Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
• Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
• Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
• Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Six months of hospital experience
• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
