Job summary

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a dedicated professional for the inpatient pharmacy. You will fill orders for oral, injectable, topical medications and IV admixtures, assist in bulk manufacturing, and manage floor stock with routine inventory tasks.

Role includes recording charges, distributing meds to care areas, answering calls, and potentially rotating across hospital and outpatient services. Night shift 9:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., 40 hours per week, with every other weekend."

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician in Michigan is required upon hire.
• LIC-Pharmacist Intern in Michigan is required upon hire.
• Graduate of an ASHP-accredited technician training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and IV admixtures.
• Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
• Prepares and distributes floor stock items; inventories and restocks shelves.
• Enter charges and credits for all medications and IV admixtures; documents medications and IV solutions.
• Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and other departments; performs necessary record keeping.
• Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window; may rotate within hospital and outpatient areas; maintains a safe, clean work area; follows 797 guidelines for IV admixtures.

About The Unit

Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

About Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of work

Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.

Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products. Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms. Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.

Enter charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.

Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital. Performs necessary record keeping functions. Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window. May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required. Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner. Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma program or GED.
• Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
• LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
