Job summary

Neighborhood Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Casey Clinic Contract Pharmacy in Alexandria, VA. You will assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications, maintain patient profiles, and ensure accurate orders while providing friendly service to patients.

The ideal candidate holds a Virginia Pharmacy Technician license, has 1–2 years of experience, and is fluent in Spanish. Strong IT skills and experience with EMR are preferred. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Pharmacy Technician License required.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or completion of a qualifying training program.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a diverse client base.
• Experience with information technology, electronic health records, and medical records; computer savvy.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
• Knowledge of patient assistance programs and pharmacy software is beneficial.
• Familiar with common drug names and their functions.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in filling prescriptions and dispensing precise dosages in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain computerized patient profiles, input new prescriptions, and verify orders.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, pull expired drugs, order from distributors, and verify deliveries.
• Communicate with doctors and clinical staff about refills and order clarifications via EMR.
• Provide timely fulfillment of prescriptions and friendly customer service in person and by phone.
• Perform administrative tasks and ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and security measures.
