Job Summary

Report to and work under the authority of a licensed pharmacist in all activities required to provide optimal patient care. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing intravenous medications (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs, investigational chemotherapy, biologics, and supportive care medications), maintaining patient records, and performing pharmacy activities not designated to a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Prepare oral and intravenous medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Procure and dispense prescription medications as instructed by physicians and pharmacists.
• Maintain and generate patient reports and records via computer systems.
• Maintain investigational medication records as assigned.
• Manage medication inventories and pharmacy supplies, including ordering, receiving, unpacking, recording, and storing medications.
• Ensure accurate medication order entries, patient billing, and record keeping.
• Conduct medication inventory audits.
• Maintain filing systems and documentation.
• Monitor and record temperatures of storage units.
• Communicate effectively and courteously via phone and in writing.
• Organize work, maintain certification, and participate in continuing education. A copy of the renewal certificate must be provided.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
• One to two years of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture experience preferred but not required. IV/chemotherapy certification is a plus.
