Job summary

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our 24/7 Emergency Specialty hospital. You will prepare and dispense medications for animal patients, ensuring proper dosage and accurate labeling in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary or human pharmacy, strong communication with pet owners, and familiarity with Ezy-Vet software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
• Familiarity with veterinary medications and dosage calculations.
• Proficiency with Ezy-Vet software is a plus.
• Availability to work on holidays and weekends.
• Beeper/on-call coverage required.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required; multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure, count, label, and package medications and fluid supplies.
• Interpret veterinary prescriptions and ensure proper dosage and administration instructions.
• Communicate professionally with pet owners regarding medications, side effects, and proper administration techniques.
• Work alongside veterinary technicians and assistants to ensure quality patient care.
• Process medication refills and prescription authorizations, including requests received through external platforms.
• Handle documentation, billing tasks, and data entry for prescriptions.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws and veterinary regulations.
• Support veterinarians in managing controlled substances, including accurate logging and inventory tracking.
• Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
