Job summary

Altasciences in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacy Operations team in handling Investigational and Non-Investigation Products (IP/NIP) for clinical trials. You will perform reception, labeling, storage, dispensing, shipping, accountability and inventory, ensuring compliance with study protocols, GCP and SOPs.

  • Compounding and aseptic technique a plus.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft suite; strong computer literacy.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and integrity with confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reception, labeling, storage, dispensing, shipping and inventory of IP/NIPs.
  • Ensure IP materials are purchased/on-site prior to trial initiation.
  • Comply with study blinding and randomization when handling IPs.
  • Address pharmacy queries promptly and assist in sponsor/regulatory audits.
  • Contribute to revision of pharmacy SOPs and training of staff.
  • Communicate issues to supervisors and collaborate on solutions.
  • Maintain pharmacy logs including temperature, cleaning and calibration.

About The Role

The Pharmacy Technician will support the Pharmacy Operations team in the execution of pharmacy related and Investigational and Non-Investigation Products (IP/NIP) handling procedures. The Pharmacy Technician will conduct tasks performed in compliance with study protocol, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).



What You'll Do Here


  • Perform the reception, labeling, storage, dispensing, shipping, accountability and inventory of IP/NIPs.

  • Ensure that all IP related materials necessary for the conduct of a clinical trial are purchased and/or on-site prior to trial initiation.

  • Comply with study blinding and randomization when handling and/or dispensing IPs.

  • Ensure the timely resolution of pharmacy related queries.

  • Assist in sponsor/regulatory audits.

  • May participate in the revision of pharmacy related SOPs.

  • Proactively communicate issues and/or problem resolutions to departmental supervisors and managers.

  • Collaborate in the coordination of training employees on study specific dosing procedures, as required by location.

  • Ensure the confidentiality of clinical trial participants and sponsors is respected.

  • Maintain and advocate a high level of customer service and quality within the department.

  • Assist in managing and maintaining pharmacy maintenance logs such as, temperature, cleaning and calibration



What You'll Need to Succeed


  • Education: High school diploma or GED with experience working as a certified pharmacy assistant is required

  • Compounding and aseptic technique a plus

  • Must have experience with Microsoft suite, Strong computer literacy

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.

  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.

  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.

  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
