Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a detail-oriented Research Associate, Formulations to join a regulated laboratory environment. You will support preclinical studies by preparing, sampling, dispensing, and tracking materials while ensuring GLP compliance, integrity of study materials, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • 0–1 years of laboratory or regulated environment experience.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to interpret procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sample, and dispense test and control formulations, following procedures.
  • Receive, review, reconcile, and document incoming test materials and supplies.
  • Maintain chain-of-custody records and inventory for materials.
  • Support the disposition and management of formulation and study materials.
  • Document study activities and review raw data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review study protocols and provide formulation-related feedback and support.
  • Prepare, package, and ship study materials as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenish laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
  • Follow GLP, SOPs, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support study execution and process improvement.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Associate, Formulations to join our team in a regulated laboratory environment. In this role, you will support preclinical and laboratory studies by preparing, sampling, dispensing, and tracking test and control materials while ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). You will play an important role in maintaining the integrity of study materials, documentation, and inventory management processes that contribute to high-quality scientific research. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist or laboratory professional who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about supporting research through accuracy, organization, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare, sample, and dispense test and control article formulations, including solutions and suspensions, following established procedures and protocols.
  • Receive, review, reconcile, and document incoming test materials, reagents, and associated supplies.
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody records and inventory tracking for test and control materials.
  • Support the disposition and management of formulation and study materials throughout the study lifecycle.
  • Accurately document study activities, maintain laboratory notebooks, and review raw data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review study protocols and provide formulation-related feedback and support.
  • Prepare, package, and ship study materials and supplies as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenish laboratory supplies to support daily operations.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support study execution and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with additional laboratory and operational activities as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or another scientific discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 0-1 years of experience in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, research, manufacturing, or other regulated environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interpret technical documents and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a GLP, GMP, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, inventory management, and material handling processes.
  • Experience supporting research, pharmaceutical, or preclinical study operations.
  • Bilingual French proficiency may be preferred depending on location.
