Job summary

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by filling orders for medications across oral, rectal, topical and injectable forms, and by preparing labels and charge slips. Experience with PYXIS and hospital settings is preferred, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and aseptic technique.

Requirements include a High School diploma and current Louisiana Pharmacy Technician certification or licensure; one year of related experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification or licensure in the State of Louisiana.
• One year related pharmacy experience; hospital experience preferred; retail experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Pharmacists by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use.
• Mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood.
• Types labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties as required.
• Utilizes PYXIS restocking patient areas as well as for inventory management.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• One-year related pharmacy experienceand/or training or graduate of certified training program/healthcare careerscollege
• Hospital experienced preferred
• Retail experience accepted
• Basic computer knowledge
• Must be motivated
• PYXIS experience preferred
