What Retail Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.
Retail Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines; may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.
Job Summary
The role of the Technician II, Retail Pharmacy plays an important role in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care in communities. This includes developing close relationships with patients in communities we serve and assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Maintains professional working relationships, with all medical personnel.
- Understands that the requirements of working in a pharmacy.
- Be available to the customer/patients and maintain a friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with customers.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Organizes and assists pharmacist.
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering when needed.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Works with pharmacy team to ensure best practices are being followed with regards to 340B.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience, preferred.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- Active Tennessee Pharmacy Technician License required.
- National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB) or ability to obtain one required.
- Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
- May require vendor credentialing.

- Work typically involves regular review of output by work lead or supervisor.
- Refers complex unusual problems to supervisor.
Anticipated hourly range: $18.10 per hour - $25.80 per hour based on experience (includes shift differential)
