Job summary

Avita Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacy Technician in Harlingen, TX to support pharmacists with dispensing and patient education. The position is a reduced full-time schedule, about 30 hours per week, based at our Harlingen location (2306 Camelot Plaza Circle).

Hours are Mon,Wed,Thu,Fri 8:30AM-5:30PM; Tue 8:30AM-8:00PM. Starting pay ranges from $18 to $23 per hour, commensurate with credentials and location. Avita offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; related health field degree preferred.
• 1+ year Pharmacy Technician experience required.
• Must be registered with Texas Board of Pharmacy (BOP).
• Spanish language ability preferred; English proficiency essential.
• Certification in Pharmacy Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Remove drugs from stock and prepare for dispensing.
• Label containers and package/repackage as needed.
• Enter prescriptions into computer system and verify insurance.
• Interact with patients professionally and answer calls.
• Handle POS payments and reconcile end-of-day transactions.
• Coordinate prescription deliveries and document reports.

Job description

The Pharmacy Technician will assist Pharmacists with preparing and dispensing prescribed medications. The Pharmacy Technician will also help Pharmacists provide patient care and education.

This is a reduced full-time (approximately 30 hrs/week) position that is based in Harlingen, TX (2306 Camelot Plaza Circle).

Pharmacy hours are: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30AM-5:30PM; Tue: 8:30AM-8:00PM

About the Role:

• Remove drug(s) from stock; count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals
• Place the product into a container
• Affix the label or labels to the container
• Package/repackage as needed
• Type prescription label(s) or enter prescription information into a computer record system
• Verify/re-verify insurance benefits
• Interact courteously with patients and team members to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships
• Answer incoming and make outbound calls to patients, case managers, providers, insurance companies, etc.
• Clearly write routine reports and correspondence
• Handle payment transactions at Point of Service (POS) and reconcile beginning and end-of-day transactions
• Coordinate prescription deliveries
• Proactively identify and analyze problems and provide effective solutions

About You:

• High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree or higher preferred, especially in a related health field
• One or more years of related Pharmacy Technician experience
• Must be currently registered with the Board of Pharmacy (BOP) in Texas
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• National Pharmacy Technician certification through an accredited certification program is preferred
• Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong MS Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm
• Experience with pharmacy software such as PioneerRx, QSI, etc. preferred
• Must have a reliable mode of transportation to get to and from our Harlingen, TX pharmacy on a regular daily basis
• Available to work M, W, Th, F: 8:30AM-5:30PM; Tue: 8:30AM-8:00PM
• Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and flexible, have excellent phone etiquette, and provide exceptional customer service

Pay range: $18 to $23 per hour, based on credentials and geographic location.
