Job summary

Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers is seeking a full-time pharmacy technician to support the pharmacist on duty in Columbus, OH. You will greet patients, process prescriptions, adjudicate insurance, and help dispense medications accurately and efficiently.

You will maintain records, assist with inventory, and collaborate with clinical staff to ensure compliant, affordable care for every patient in a fast-paced, diverse setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required.
  • National certification from an accredited pharmacy tech program preferred at hire (PTCB/ExCPT).
  • Experience with prescription data entry and insurance adjudication is a plus.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and typing speed (≥45 wpm).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescriptions by data entry and adjudication.
  • Adjudicate prescriptions with insurance and minimize patient costs.
  • Greet patients and assist in person or by phone.
  • Maintain records in line with policy and law.
  • Assist inventory management and non-sterile compounding.
  • Support the pharmacist on-duty to ensure safe dispensing.

Job Summary: This position supports the pharmacist on-duty in the following manner:Greet patients, visitors and others upon entryProcess prescriptions by performing data entry, adjudication of insurance claims, filling and providing medications to patients at pick-upSupport the clinical staff with obtaining information for the dispensation of prescriptions, as necessaryReports to: Pharmacy ManagerSupervises: N/ADress Requirement: Scrubs in accordance to Heart of Ohio Family Health’s dress code policyWork Schedule: Full TimeMonday through Friday during standard business hoursTimes are subject to change due to business necessityNon-ExemptJob Duties and Responsibilities:Support of pharmacy services by assembling and dispensing medications in an efficient, accurate and patient-centered mannerProcess prescriptions via paper and electronic prescription formatsAdjudication of prescriptions through insurance while being conscious of out-of-pocket costs and exploring ways to provide patients with medications at the lowest possible costRespond to requests from providers and patients via phone, computer and face-to-face interactionsAssisting in the maintenance of records in accordance with company policy and state/federal lawInventory management which includes, but not limited to, annual controlled substance inventory and daily maintenance of in-stock medications and suppliesNon-sterile compoundingAttention to detail, analytical skills, admirable customer service and dependability is a mustA positive attitude with a passion for providing high-quality, holistic, and compassionate care to every patient every timeWillingness to continuously grow, learn and accept different cultures in an environment surrounded by great diversityMaintain compliance with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy licensing requirements and Heart of Ohio Health Relias training (and others as necessary)Facility Environment:Heart of Ohio Family Health operates in multiple locations, in Columbus, OH.
