General Summary/Responsibilities
Status: Full-time - 700am-330pm900am-530pm,100pm - 930pm, 300pm-1130pm
Department: Pharmacy
Facility: Atrium Medical Center
A certified pharmacy technician, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engage in the following activities to the extent that the activities do not require the exercise of professional judgment:
- 1. 1\. Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile
- 2. 2\. Preparing and affixing labels
- 3. 3\. Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory
- 4. 4\. Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers
- 5. 5\. Placing dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist
- 6. 6\. Non-sterile drug compounding following the completion of site-specific training
- 7. 7\. Sterile drug compounding following the completion of a site-specific training
- 8. 7\. Stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts
Qualifications
Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED
- * Preferred educational qualifications: Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program

Licensure/Certification/Registration
- * Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- * Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills
- * Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem solving skills
- * Able to read and write printed material in English
- * Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
- * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
- * Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
- * Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy. Must be familiar with pharmacy software
- * Possess ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as team member
- * Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers
