Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Pharmacy Technician – Customer Support Representative to support pharmacy operations, handle inbound/outbound calls, assist with refills and deliveries, and ensure accurate system information. Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail are essential for success.

The position is onsite at Cary, NC with potential hybrid after training; pay is $22.00/hr with a temporary-to-permanent path based on performance and attendance.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy technician registration preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of call center experience, preferably in healthcare, pharmacy, or a medical office setting.
  • Experience using information systems to manage customer interactions and documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work across multiple systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional phone communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for documentation, claims processing, and data entry.
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare-related environment.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical terminology preferred.

  • Process medical claims and document notes regarding referral and patient status updates.
  • Use pharmacy management systems to assist with refill requests, prescription status updates, insurance verification, and invoice requests.
  • Answer questions during refill scheduling and transfer calls requiring clinical support to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaints according to established procedures.
  • Perform accurate data entry related to prescriptions, claims, and patient information.
  • Assist with prior authorization and insurance-related processes.
  • Deliver customer service in a call center environment through professional and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and healthcare staff to support patient care and operational workflows.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Ability to transition successfully from a temporary assignment to a permanent role based on performance and attendance standards.
Work Environment

This position starts onsite in a specialty pharmacy and call center environment. Initial training takes place onsite from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After training, the regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with occasional rotating Saturdays and a weekday off in exchange. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity based on meeting performance and attendance requirements. A hybrid schedule may be available after approximately 90–120 days, based on performance and attendance. The role includes computer-based work, use of pharmacy management systems, and a focus on accuracy, quality, patient safety, and strong customer service.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
