Job summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining inventory, and keeping records. The role operates under pharmacist supervision, performing duties allowed by law.

Responsibilities include filling unit dose orders, preparing sterile products, inventory management, Pyxis loading, and supporting formulary initiatives. Requires active Louisiana pharmacy tech license and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacy Tech license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.
  • High School diploma/GED.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately fill unit dose medication orders from labels generated by pharmacist
  • Prepare sterile products accurately under USP Guidelines. Restock medication and IV dispensing areas.
  • Make rounds to each nursing unit as per policy and as directed by pharmacist
  • Accuratelyidentifyand fill replacement medications on emergency crash carts/totes and floor stock.
  • Issue requisitioned drugs to other departments as per policy.
  • Participate inmaintainingadequate inventory levels. Obtain medication based on PAR levels and in conjunction with formulary initiatives. Work with DOP or designee as needed in inventory management incentives.
  • Participate inmaintainingdepartment formulary initiatives. Communicate withappropriate medical,nursingand allied health professional staff memberswith regard tonon-formulary decisions. Work with DOP or designees as needed in formulary clinical review process
  • Complete assigned nursing unit inspections per policy.
  • Accurately fill medication carts
  • Enter charges and credits into pharmacy computer systemin a timely manner
  • Answer telephone and direct calls toappropriate personnel.
  • Accurately load and refill Pyxis
  • Other duties as assigned by DOP, ADOP, Clinical Manager, or charge pharmacist.
