Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Pharmacy Department seeks a Pharmacy Technician Training Program Coordinator to lead development, oversight, and evaluation of the formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program. This role supervises students and technicians and coordinates with the management team to ensure program objectives align with department goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy-related experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, creating positive working relationships with team members.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates, implements, conducts and revises program content, training objectives and evaluation tools for the formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
• Maintains ASHP accreditation statuses and ensures students are registered as Pharmacy Technician Trainees.
• Provides classroom instruction and on-the-job training; evaluates performance and follows up on training needs.
• Coordinates didactic presentations, space and equipment arrangements with pharmacy management.
• Ensures education objectives are met and training feedback is provided to stakeholders.
• Maintains records for the training program and coordinates experiential site rotations.
• Assists with recruitment and onboarding of trainees, manages supplies and equipment.
• Ensures compliance with department goals and maintains competency as Pharmacy Technician (Certified).
