Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Hospital seeks a Pharmacy Tech trainee to support inpatient and outpatient settings, preparing patient orders and delivering medications across departments.

You will train in inpatient, outpatient, and medication history areas, and complete 400 hours of training to obtain PTCB certification within one year. This role includes a rotating schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Registered with the State of Iowa as a Tech in Training prior to starting employment.
• Must complete 400 hours of training and obtain PTCB certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Attend training sessions as outlined in the Certified Pharmacy Technician curriculum.
• Adhere to attendance requirements.
• Receive training in inpatient, outpatient, and medication history pharmacy areas and observe other duties.
• Prepare patient medication orders in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Deliver medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms and other areas.
• Charge and credit to the patient and restock medications/IVs.
• Utilize automated dispensing systems and restock as needed.
• Check medication expiration dates and perform unit inspections.
