Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, seeks a Pharmacy Tech to join our hospital pharmacy team. You will assist in inpatient and outpatient settings, prepare medication orders, deliver medications, and support automated dispensing systems.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, registration as a Tech in Training in Iowa, and completion of 400 training hours with PTCB certification within one year. Full-time schedule, 40 hours weekly, rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pharmacy Tech Trainee must complete 400 hours of training and obtain PTCB certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Attend didactic and clinical training sessions as outlined in the Certified Pharmacy Technician course curriculum.
• Adhere to attendance requirements.
• Receive training in inpatient, outpatient, and medication history pharmacy departments and observe other specialized pharmacy technician duties.
• Prepare patient medication orders in outpatient and inpatient pharmacy settings.
• Deliver medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
• Charge and credit to the patient and restock usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Utilize and restock automated medication dispensing machines (robot, acudose, and pyxis).
• Check medication expiration dates and complete assigned unit inspections.
