Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee. This role performs duties that do not require a pharmacist and trains in filling orders, delivering to patient care, and managing PYXIS systems.

Candidate will obtain a Vermont Pharmacy Tech license before starting and must achieve national certification within two years of hire, with pharmacy experience preferred. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Licensure path includes Vermont Pharmacy Board requirements.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders according to prescriptions and procedures.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and ancillary departments.
• Operate PYXIS controlled cabinets and related technology.
• Support department operations and act as team lead when scheduled.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile products as required.

Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee, performs those duties which do not require the professional training and judgment of a pharmacist. The technician trainee will learn and demonstrate the mastery of filling medication orders, deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas, managing technology including PYXIS packer and PYXIS control cabinets, effective operation of the department while staffing as team leader, sterile and non-sterile product preparation

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required. Trainee will obtain their Pharmacy Tech license with the State of Vermont Board of Pharmacy before the start of employment. They must achieve their National Certification within two years of their date of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

Pharmacy experience preferred or related work experience.
