JobRx, Inc. seeks an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee to learn compounding and filling medication orders, support deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas, and manage technology such as Carousel and Pyxis.
The trainee will help maintain workflow within the department while staffing as an expeditor. Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or GED with one year of post-high school education or relevant work experience.
The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee performs duties that do not require the professional training and judgment of a pharmacist. The Trainee will learn and demonstrate mastery of compounding and filling medication orders, deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas, and managing technology including Carousel and Pyxis. The Trainee demonstrates ability to maintain effective workflow within the department when staffing as an expeditor. Upon completion of all central pharmacy competencies and the Pyxis competency, the Trainee may advance into and train in other specialty areas such as sterile compounding, hazardous compounding, O.R., controlled substances, or in‑basket.
High school diploma or GED plus one year of post–high school education or relevant work experience preferred.
Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or with the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) is needed for promotion within the Pharmacy Technician program.
Trainee will register with the State of Vermont Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician before the start of employment.
Inpatient pharmacy technician experience or minimum of one year retail pharmacy technician work experience preferred. Other relevant education or work experience may be considered.
