Job summary

Trinity Health in Mason City, IA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare medications (unit dose and IV compounds) for pharmacist check and delivery to nursing units. The role includes refilling Pyxis units, maintaining inventory, requisitioning supplies, and handling department paperwork.

Shift is rotating 8-hour shifts. The ideal candidate will ensure all work meets regulatory standards (USP 795/797) and provide courteous service to patients, visitors, and colleagues while triaging calls

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Registration with the State of Iowa as a pharmacy technician (or technician trainee if awaiting certification) prior to starting position. National certification through an NCCA accredited program; certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire.

Responsibilities

Position summary

The Pharmacy Technician prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, maintains the department’s inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls.

Shift: Rotating, 8-hour shifts

What you will do

1. Learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds. processing physician medication orders to ensure medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered.
2. Ensure all work meets regulatory compliance standards as related to the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, USP 795 / 797.
3. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Registration: Registration with the State of Iowa as a pharmacy technician (or technician trainee if awaiting certification) prior to starting position within the pharmacy. AND Certification: National certification acquired through successful completion of any NCCA accredited pharmacy technician certification program. At least one sitting for examination must be within 9 months of hire, after achieving the required 500 hours to sit for the test. Achievement of certification must be no later than 12 months after hire
