Job summary

IHA in Mason City, IA, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare medications (unit dose and IV compounds) for pharmacist check and deliver to nursing units. The role includes refilling Pyxis units, stocking floor inventories, and maintaining department organization.

Shift: Rotating, 8-hour shifts. You will process physician orders, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide courteous service to patients and staff while supporting pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Registration with the State of Iowa as a pharmacy technician (or technician trainee if awaiting certification) prior to starting position within the pharmacy.
• National certification through any NCCA accredited pharmacy technician certification program.
• At least one sitting for examination must be within 9 months of hire, after achieving the required 500 hours to sit for the test.
• Certification must be achieved no later than 12 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to prepare medication orders, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, and ensure prompt, accurate delivery.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory (USP 795 / 797).
