Job summary

Medical City Dallas, part of Medical City Healthcare, seeks a PRN Pharmacy Technician to support mixed shifts from 7:00am to 10:30pm with rotating weekends. You will assist with ADCs, parenteral compounding, and daily pharmacy tasks in a hospital setting.

Qualified candidates have PTCB/NHA certification and Texas registration; IV certification is preferred. Prior hospital experience is preferred and an associate degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• PTCB or NHA national certification required.
• Texas State Board registration (Pharmacy Technician or Intern) required.
• IV certification preferred.
• IV room experience preferred.
• 1–3 years hospital experience preferred.
• Associates degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs).
• Accurately performs and documents monthly storage inspections.
• Performs required calculations accurately.
• Compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures.
• Utilizes aseptic techniques in parenteral preparation.
• Identifies issues and communicates to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Completes education requirements to maintain competency.
• Interacts with hospital personnel politely and appropriately.

Job Summary and Qualifications

* This is a PRN position to help cover mixed shifts between 7:00am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends *

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team.

What You Will Do

• Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned
• Accurately performs required calculations
• Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding
• Compliant with all USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)
• Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner
• Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency
• Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriately
• Performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

• National Certification (PTCB or NHA) required
• Texas State Board Registration required (Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern)
• IV certification preferred
• IV room experience a plus
• 1 -3 years of hospital experience preferred
• Associates Degree or equivalent level of education preferred
