Job summary

Medical City Dallas is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team. The role supports morning and evening shifts (6:30am–10:30pm) and involves ADC duties, med storage inspections, calculations, and aseptic compounding with strict USP 795/797/800 compliance.

Qualified candidates have PTCB/NHA certification, Texas State Board registration, and hospital experience. IV certification and IV room experience are a plus; an Associate's degree or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs).
  • Accurately documents monthly medication storage area inspections.
  • Performs required calculations.
  • Compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures with aseptic technique.
  • Maintains aseptic technique in parenteral prep.
  • Ensures compliance with USP 795, 797, 800.
  • Identifies issues, prioritizes workload, and communicates with staff.
  • Completes education requirements to maintain competency.
  • Interacts with hospital personnel by phone and in person.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary And Qualifications
  • This is a Full Time position to cover morning/evening shifts. Hours will vary between 6:30am-10:30pm *

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately performing advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, they are responsible for performing duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), other specialized duties and/or leadership roles as assigned by the pharmacy management team.

What You Will Do In This Role
  • Performs duties associated with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
  • Accurately performs and documents monthly medication storage area inspections as assigned
  • Accurately performs required calculations
  • Accurately and safely compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
  • Always utilizes aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding
  • Compliant with all USP 795, 797, 800 daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)
  • Identifies critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner
  • Completes all education requirements and/or other activities needed to maintain competency
  • Interacts in person and by phone with hospital personnel politely and appropriatelyli>
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:
  • National Certification (PTCB or NHA) required
  • Texas State Board Registration required (Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern)
  • IV certification preferred
  • IV room experience a plus
  • 1 -3 years of hospital experience preferred
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent level of education preferred
