Job summary

Nazareth Hospital, part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician for weekend coverage in inpatient pharmacy. The role supports pharmacists and pharmacy staff with medication preparation, dispensing, charging, and inventory tasks to maintain smooth operations.

Under supervision, you will handle Pyxis MedStations, IV room workflow, and parental solutions for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring patient safety across neonatal to geriatric populations.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of pharmacy experience preferred.
• PTCB certification within 1 year of hire or currently enrolled in Pharmacy School.
• Registered as a technician or technician trainee with Commonwealth of PA prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists and staff with inpatient medication preparation, dispensing, and delivery.
• Maintain Pyxis MedStations, IV room workflow, inventory management, and returns processing.
• Prepare and dispense parental solutions for inpatients and outpatients.
• Support workflow for age ranges from neonates to geriatrics to ensure safe medication delivery.

Job Title: Pharmacy Tech

Employment Type: Part-Time

Shift: PRN minimum expectation will be every fourth weekend;
evening shift, 2:30pm-11pm; Holiday requirements, per department needs.

• applicants need to be able to train (week 1= monday orientation, tuesday Epic training; 1 day for required regulatory assignments; training mainly occurs on weekdays M-F, times can vary from 6am-5pm).
• number of shifts required for training dependent upon prior experience, need at least 3 shifts/week to ensure timely training.

Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Registered Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, and Director of Pharmacy, and according to the established procedures of the pharmacy department, the pharmacy technician assists the pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel in all aspects of inpatient hospital pharmacy. This includes but is not limited to the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications, performing related duties to maintain workflow such as charging medications, filling Pyxis™ MedStations, crediting and redistributing returns and assisting in the maintenance of inventory levels within the department. In addition to the above, the technician assists the pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel in the preparation, dispensing and delivery of parental solutions for inpatients and outpatients. The Technician will maintain the workflow in the IV room with activities such as delivering the IVs to the nursing units, recycling of IV products, processing IV returns and batching IVs and syringes as backup stock for new orders. The purpose is delivery of quality care commensurate with the age of the patient population for the said designated area. (ie. neonate through geriatrics).

Minimum Qualifications

• 1-2 Years of Pharmacy experience preferred
• Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) certification within 1 year of hire date or currently enrolled in Pharmacy School Program
• Need to be registered as technician or technician trainee with Commonwealth of PA prior to start
