Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist across Carle Foundation Hospital, Kirby and Hoopeston Hospitals and related locations. You will perform technical tasks including filing, compounding, reconstitution, labeling, and delivery of medications.

The role requires accurate prescription processing, restocking, IV preparation, and collaboration with the pharmacy team to support patient care and safe medication use. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician required or licensed before 1/1/2008 as exempt/not required; licensed within 60 days of license application (IL)
• Experience with IV admixture and parenteral nutrition preferred
• Ability to process prescriptions and refills accurately

Responsibilities

• Accurately and safely prepare and label chemotherapy drugs for administration.
• Accurately fill and deliver Omnicell restock lists.
• Assist in developing and maintaining training materials as needed.
• Enter and process new prescriptions and refills.
• Fill medication orders in a timely manner for various supply channels.
• Perform billing functions including patient charges and crediting.
• Perform non-sterile compounding.
• Monthly inspection of nursing units and pharmacy area for expired drugs.
• Prepare IV products using aseptic technique and labeling.
• Prepare parenteral nutrition solutions and provide lab information to the pharmacist.
• Prepare batch IV products to support patient care needs.
• Deliver enteral nutritional supplements and maintain enteral records.
• Provide services to OR staff from the OR medication room.
• Refer customers to a pharmacist when appropriate.
• Restock and replace trays and kits throughout the facility
