Job summary

Howard Community College is seeking an adjunct Pharmacy Technician Instructor to deliver high‑quality instruction in the Pharmacy Technician program. You will teach classroom theory, supervise hands‑on labs, and prepare students for national certification and entry into various pharmacy settings, including retail, hospital, and long‑term care.

The role requires clinical expertise, curriculum development, and the ability to guide students through exams, assignments, and competency evaluations.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Maryland Board of Pharmacy license.
• Minimum of three years of recent pharmacy practice experience.
• Strong knowledge of prescription processing, calculations, safety, law, inventory, and operations.
• Previous teaching, training, or workforce development experience preferred.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Willingness or completion of instructor training.
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with the NHA certification standards and current practice.
• Teach classroom and laboratory courses covering pharmacology, calculations, law and ethics, safety, prescription processing, inventory management, and compounding.
• Utilize Canvas to support in-person, online, and hybrid instruction.
• Prepare students for certification exams and career entry.
• Assess performance through exams, assignments, simulations, and competency evaluations.
• Maintain accurate student records.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, and program mandates.
• Collaborate with departmental staff and employer partners to enhance workforce outcomes.
• Provide academic advising and career readiness support.
• Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practice and emerging technologies.
• Participate in curriculum review, program evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
