Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive pharmacy services and support for the registered pharmacist. Responsibilities include order entry, inventory management, patient prescription processing, and collaboration with inpatient and outpatient teams to ensure accurate medication preparation and delivery.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician certification required.
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician with PA Board before start date.
• Failed to meet training/experience requirements may require completion of a program or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer entry, preparation and assembly prior to pharmacist final check (25%).
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies per policies; inspects areas and uses pharmacy computer systems (25%).
• Provides customer service by handling prescriptions and documenting information; ensures courteous interactions and policy-based medication release (25%).
• Outpatient Techs: validates Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurance drug coverage and ensures adjudication; handles cash and deposits; prepares accounting reports (25%).
• Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages and batches from bulk meds; prepares routine orders for IV meds including compounding and labeling (25%).
• Central Fill Pharmacy: safe operation of equipment (forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma/GED

Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA)

completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience

Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician through PA State Board
