Job summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with processing and preparing medication orders, including compounding, labeling, and delivering to patient care areas. The role requires familiarity with pharmacy procedures and data entry into the system.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of pharmacy technician experience, and a valid license/certification where required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Must be 21+ years old due to insurance company vehicle use.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacists by filling orders and preparing labels.
  • Delivers to patient care areas and ancillary units.
  • Replenishes medicine supply carts and automated dispensing devices.
  • Compounds, labels, and packages pharmaceuticals.
  • Counts, packages, and labels unit doses for pharmacist inspection.
  • Uses aseptic technique in the hood as appropriate.
  • Enters or retrieves data from computer files.
  • Maintains competencies as designated by the Department of Pharmacy.
  • Processes patient charges for pharmaceuticals in retail settings.
