Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for Winston-Salem, NC. You will support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, label and verify accuracy, and assist with inventory and purchasing tasks.

Exposure to hazardous drugs and controlled substances is possible, with 7-on/7-off, 10-hour shifts on a 35-hour work week. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, NC-registered pharmacy technician license within 30 days, and certification (CPhT or ExCPT).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or NationalHealthcareerAssociation (ExCPT).
• North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen calls and route them using proper etiquette.
• Assist in pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking and wasting of controlled substances as applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards as applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using aseptic technique as applicable.
• Inspect storage areas for policy adherence.
• Document patient admission histories and data entry into the pharmacy system.
