Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Pharmacy in Winston-Salem, NC. The role supports licensed pharmacists with preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.

You will handle inventory, documentation, and basic billing tasks as part of a patient-centered team. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, valid CPhT or ExCPT certification, and NC registration within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or NationalHealthcareerAssociation (ExCPT).
• North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen phone calls and route as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette.
• Assist in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances, where applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following proper USP standards, where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using proper aseptic technique, where applicable.
• Inspect medication storage areas for proper adherence to storage policies.
• Document medication admission histories and data entry for record keeping and insurance verification.
• May participate in quality improvement initiatives and training of technicians.
