Job summary

Atrium Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists with medication preparation, labeling, and distribution under supervision. The role supports inventory, education, and patient data entry to ensure accurate records and smooth operations.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED; certification/licensure within 18 months. No experience is required, but 1 year in pharmacy is preferred; strong communication, organization, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician certification and state licensure within 18 months of start date.
• No prior experience required; at least 1 year preferred in pharmacy settings.
• Knowledge of USP standards for compounding and sterile/nonsterile procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Support daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checks.
• Screen calls and route as needed with proper etiquette.
• Document medication admission histories and insurance verification.
• Operate in third-party billing functions when needed.
• Possibly immunize patients under supervision of a registered pharmacist.
• Deliver medications using an Advocate Health-owned vehicle when required.
