Purpose:
Performs a variety of clerical, distributive, technical, and data gathering duties to provide medications to patients and support pharmacists and other technicians.
Accountabilities:
- Dispenses and delivers medications accurately and timely.
- Demonstrates competence in department automated dispensing and storage devices.
- Troubleshoots dispensing issues.
- Prepares non-sterile and sterile products accurately, timely, and in accordance with USP standards.
- Accurately enters medication orders into the computer system and navigates within the electronic medical record to facilitate patient care.
- Utilizes automation and technology to maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition, serving as a resource for pharmacy team members and nurses.
- Addresses customer and team member concerns accurately and promptly.
- Triages phone calls from customers such as nurses, physicians, or patients, understanding issues clearly and providing timely resolution or appropriate hand-off.
- Assists in training and shares knowledge with pharmacy team members, residents, and students, ensuring duties are performed according to policies and standards.
- Supports departmental initiatives, including performance improvement activities, committees, and shared governance.
- Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures, USP standards, and DNV requirements.
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Good mathematics skills.
- Attention to detail.
