Job description

Purpose:

Performs a variety of clerical, distributive, technical, and data gathering duties to provide medications to patients and support pharmacists and other technicians.

Accountabilities:
  1. Dispenses and delivers medications accurately and timely.
  2. Demonstrates competence in department automated dispensing and storage devices.
  3. Troubleshoots dispensing issues.
  4. Prepares non-sterile and sterile products accurately, timely, and in accordance with USP standards.
  5. Accurately enters medication orders into the computer system and navigates within the electronic medical record to facilitate patient care.
  6. Utilizes automation and technology to maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition, serving as a resource for pharmacy team members and nurses.
  7. Addresses customer and team member concerns accurately and promptly.
  8. Triages phone calls from customers such as nurses, physicians, or patients, understanding issues clearly and providing timely resolution or appropriate hand-off.
  9. Assists in training and shares knowledge with pharmacy team members, residents, and students, ensuring duties are performed according to policies and standards.
  10. Supports departmental initiatives, including performance improvement activities, committees, and shared governance.
  11. Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures, USP standards, and DNV requirements.
Position Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Good mathematics skills.
  • Attention to detail.
