Job summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a full-time pharmacy technician to join the inpatient team in Florence, SC. Work primarily second shift with rotating weekends, under pharmacist supervision. State retirement and benefits are included.

Responsibilities include preparation, distribution of medications, inventory maintenance, and documenting drug therapy records. Requires high school diploma and a SC pharmacy technician registration. Two+ years in retail pharmacy/history preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; certified pharmacy technician training program completed.
  • Preferred: two or more years of experience retail pharmacy/med history.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and distribution of all doses of medication.
  • Maintenance of drug inventories (re-stocking cabinets, packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart stock).
  • Completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy (orders, charges & credits).

Job Description

Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re-stock, etc); and, (3) completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy (aminoglycoside protocol orders, drug charges & credits etc)

Education
  • High School Diploma required; college-level courses desirable but not required; successful completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program required.
Experience
  • (Preferred) two or more years of experience retail pharmacy/med history.
Licensures/Certifications
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration for South Carolina.
