Job summary

Stormont-Vail Pharmacy LLC in Topeka, Kansas is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in preparing medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and to support retail pharmacy operations.

You will handle prescription data, barcode verification, and patient interactions, participate in specialty pharmacy functions, and coordinate with payers and clinicians to resolve issues while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years Pharmacy technician experience in hospital, institutional or ambulatory clinic setting.
• National Technician Certification recognized by the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy is required; must be registered with the Kansas Board of Pharmacy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Properly use dispensing and barcoding technology to ensure accurate medication selection, stocking, and order fulfillment for all patient orders.
• Verify patient, drug, quantities, directions, days' supply, supplies, insurance, and other data in prescription and patient records.
• Review pertinent medical documentation and clarify orders with pharmacist/clinician as appropriate.
• Work with payers to resolve insurance-related issues and assist with financial assistance programs as needed.
• Deliver excellent customer service to healthcare providers and patients, greeting in person and by phone, and handling Epic messages and prior authorizations.
• Achieve and maintain competency in at least two specialized pharmacy functions (e.g., vaccine administration, specialty pharmacy fulfillment, REMS programs).
