Summary

The Pharmacy Systems Technician provides the department with expertise in the area of pharmacy systems and technology as it relates to the overall operation of the pharmacy department. They will assist to develop, recommend, and execute process improvement initiatives. Additionally, they will help coordinate various operational processes and workflows along with the pharmacy leadership team.

Job Duties

  • Oversight and troubleshooting of all pharmacy related automation and technology systems, including but not limited to; central pharmacy platforms, medication dispensing cabinets, code cart replenishment systems, and labeling products.

  • Assists with the daily operations of the pharmacy.

  • Implements and/or participates in department quality improvement activities.

  • Assists with developing reports for members of the management and staff.

  • Assists with interface testing and issues between EPIC and pharmacy automation systems.

  • Aids in the investigation and resolution of controlled substance discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to use any equipment or computer systems necessary for the preparation of medications.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical and medical terminology as well as pharmaceutical calculations is required.

  • Capability and critical thinking to work with and troubleshoot complex pharmacy technology systems.

  • Experience with MS office (Word and Excel).
  • CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Within 180 Days

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
