Job summary

Polaris Pharmacy Services in Ft. Lauderdale, FL seeks a Pharmacy Returns Technician to ensure product integrity while processing returned prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities include processing returns, credit reports, inventory adjustments, and light warehouse duties. Requires a high school diploma and state pharmacy tech license; prior long-term care experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications must be current per state regulations.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer returns under pharmacist supervision.
  • File and save daily credit reports.
  • Sort items by drug type and reinstate for resale when applicable.
  • Handle disposal/deblistering of medications as needed.
  • Process expired meds and adjust inventory in the computer system.
  • Seal discarded/expired medications for haul away.
  • Prepare finished prescriptions with correct labeling and warnings.
  • Assist with light warehouse duties and stock replenishment.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and all safety policies; may require overtime or weekend shifts.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Returns Technician ensures that company standards are maintained, and product integrity is preserved while processing returned prescriptions under the pharmacist's supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Process customer returns
  • File and save daily credit reports
  • Sort based on Drug type and carefully place back in stock for re-sale (if applicable)
  • Pop, cut and/or deblister medications for destruction (if applicable)
  • Process expired medication and make inventory adjustments in computer
  • Seal containers of discarded medications and/or expired medications in preparation for haul away
  • Prepare finished prescription product and proper labeling, including cautionary and auxiliary labels, as well as other light warehouse duties
  • Package materials and products manually
  • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications
  • Label and stock as needed during low volume times
  • Replenish stock and consumables
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
  • Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of Data Entry and/or IV experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to work at a moderate speed.
  • Able to work during inclement weather.
  • Reliable
  • Detail-focused with analytical problem-solving skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to physically perform light lifting.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and day
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred (one or more years of long-term care experience preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY
  • Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
  • Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
  • Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
