Job summary

PharMerica is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator in Greensburg, PA, to manage inventory, forecast needs, and coordinate purchases with wholesalers and internal warehouses. The role supports a non-retail, closed-door pharmacy serving long-term care and senior living clients.

Responsibilities include resolving drug backorders, communicating supply issues, and implementing cost-saving purchasing strategies across locations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college education required.
• One year of professional experience or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment, and services.

Responsibilities

• Maintain optimal pharmacy inventory by managing minimum/maximum stock levels, forecasting needs, and purchasing from wholesalers and internal warehouses.
• Actively manage and resolve drug backorders, including sourcing alternatives from other pharmacies or suppliers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drug purchasing and inventory management.
• Report temporary out products to the wholesaler's customer service team to ensure supply chain communication.
• Inform pharmacy management promptly of any critical drug shortages affecting patient therapy.
• Adjust inventory min/max thresholds in response to volume changes or new business demands.
• Support implementation of new contracts and programs across field pharmacy locations.
• Monitor and manage participation in strategic purchasing initiatives and cost-saving programs.
• Ensure all newly required drug products are acquired and correctly entered into the system.
• Identify and act on opportunities for cost reduction or operational efficiency in purchasing and inventory processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
