Job summary

PharMerica, an affiliate of BrightSpring Health Services, is hiring a Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator in Wilkes-Barre, PA for a full-time, non-retail pharmacy team serving long-term care and senior living clients.

You will manage inventory, forecast needs, resolve backorders, and support cost-saving initiatives across contracts and programs. The role offers opportunities for training, advancement, and benefits as part of a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procurement practices and procedures for materials, components, equipment, and services.
• Associate degree or two years of college education.
• One year of professional experience or Bachelor’s degree.
• Bachelor’s degree desirable for progression.

Responsibilities

• Maintain optimal pharmacy inventory with min/max levels, forecast needs, and purchase from wholesalers and internal warehouses.
• Manage backorders and source alternatives from other pharmacies or suppliers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drug purchasing and inventory management.
• Report temporary out products to wholesalers' customer service team to maintain supply chain communication.
• Inform management of critical drug shortages affecting patient therapy.
• Adjust inventory min/max thresholds in response to volume changes or new business demands.
• Support implementation of new contracts and programs across field locations.
• Monitor participation in strategic purchasing initiatives and cost-saving programs.
• Ensure new drug products are acquired and entered into the system.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction or operational efficiency in purchasing and inventory processes.
• Perform additional duties to support pharmacy operations.
