Description:This position does not involve anticancer agent dispensing.It does require treatment plan build, order verification, and oncology patient monitoring.The oncology pharmacist will perform anticancer agent dose modification and provide drug information.Patient education is also a critical aspect of this role.The oncology pharmacist provides education regarding the safe and effective use of chemotherapy, both intravenous and oral, and associated medications to the healthcare team, patients, and families.This role includes the facilitation of the processing of chemotherapy and other orders for patients served in infusion.The oncology pharmacist identifies, solves, and prevents medication-related problems in the hematology/oncology population.The services provided will focus on recipients and/or family caregivers of recipients of chemotherapy for cancer and its complications, as well as providers and nursing staff.The patient population includes solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and benign hematology.
