Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital-based team. Under supervision, you will assist pharmacists with processing payments, managing patient accounts, and supporting financial interactions with patients and third-party payors.

Responsibilities include serving as liaison between patients and the pharmacy, performing benefits investigations, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring accurate documentation for audits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of retail or related experience.
• ALBOP registration required; active registration before hire.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serving as a liaison between the patient, the clinic pharmacist, and the outpatient pharmacy.
• Performing benefits investigation.
• Collaboration with clinic pharmacists to obtain prior authorizations.
• Assisting patients with enrollment and utilization of financial assistance programs.
• Processing prescription orders and third-party payer claims.
• Performing longitudinal patient follow-up with documentation for accreditations.
• Performing and documenting medication reconciliation.
• Providing excellent customer service.
