Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital-based team. Under supervision, you will assist pharmacists with processing payments, managing patient accounts, and supporting financial interactions with patients and third-party payors.

Responsibilities include serving as liaison between patients and the pharmacy, performing benefits investigations, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring accurate documentation for audits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of retail or related experience.
• ALBOP registration required; active registration before hire.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License preferred.

Pay range: $18.00 - $23.55 / hour

Shifts: full-time AM

Job Description

Under moderate supervision, to perform duties related to the processing of patient and third party payor payments. To prepare and submit vendor payments and patient refund requisitions. To work closely with Patient Financial Services to reconcile patient and third party payor account issues.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of retail or related experience required.
• Currently registered or eligible to be registered as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern/extern by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required. Active registration will be required prior to date of hire.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License Preferred.
