Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital team. You will perform duties in the pharmacy department that do not require a licensed professional, including processing and delivering medications, ordering supplies, and assisting with sterile products as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists with dispensing activities, maintaining inventory, answering phones, stocking orders, and ensuring accurate labeling and timely delivery to patient care areas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Active registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) or eligibility to be registered.
• Registration active prior to date of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with dispensing activities and inventory control.
• Maintain daily department operations: answer phones, interact at the pharmacy window, enter charges, stock, and clean workspace.
• Repackage bulk meds into unit-dose containers with correct labeling and barcode verification by the pharmacist.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas or AMMS in a timely manner and ensure Pyxis loads are correct.
• Handle controlled substances counts and discrepancies per guidelines.
• Prepare sterile products as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
