Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating and maintaining a healthy work environment supporting accountability, standards, and leadership by example.
- Managing human resources effectively, including coaching, discipline, recognition, development, and performance evaluations.
- Training pharmacy staff to meet outcome expectations and maximize professional potential.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Managing daily pharmacy operations, performing staff work when necessary, and guiding team development.
- Maintaining drug accountability and control processes, ensuring legal and quality standards are met.
- Leading process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Overseeing sterile and non-sterile compounding processes for compliance.
- Coordinating training for IV room staff in collaboration with leadership.
- Assisting in drug budget management, cost savings initiatives, and clinical programs.
- Participating in project management, including planning, stakeholder engagement, and execution.
- Supporting budgeting activities, including forecasting, negotiations, and purchase approvals.
- Managing productivity through scheduling, performance metrics, and staff adjustments.
- Collaborating with leadership to ensure operational efficiency and quality.
- Participating in departmental and organizational committees.
- Supporting information systems management within pharmacy operations.
- Sharing on-call responsibilities with pharmacy staff.
- Adhering to hospital behavioral standards and supporting organizational goals.
- Engaging in departmental initiatives, managing team decisions, and communication.
- Participating in staff performance evaluations.
- Reporting medication errors and participating in investigations.
- Managing recalls and collaborating on investigational drugs as needed.
- Performing other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy; advanced degrees or residency preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years in acute care hospital pharmacy with leadership experience; supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses: Massachusetts pharmacy license required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep understanding of pharmacy procedures, systems, and equipment.
- Knowledge of USP chapters and regulatory standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and personnel management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with standard healthcare software.
- Self-motivated with problem-solving and process improvement skills.
